Description: The AVI Foundation for Yoga Therapy Training Program, our newest program, is an exciting opportunity for students who have completed a 500-hour Yoga teacher training program from a school certified with the Yoga Alliance to have a path to become a Yoga Therapist! Until recently, participation in the AVI Yoga Therapist Training Program has been available only to graduates of the AVI Yoga Teacher Training Program. The AVI Foundation for Yoga Therapy Training Program immerses students in the Viniyoga methodology, which forms the foundation for the Viniyoga approach to Yoga Therapy. Yoga teachers who complete this new program may enroll in the AVI Yoga Therapist Training Program. The next AVI Foundation for Yoga Therapy Training Program includes two sessions: a 5-day session in July 2009; and a 14-day session in late November 2009. All training sessions are held at Mount Madonna Center in Watsonville, California.

Site Title: American Viniyoga Institute
Site Desc: Yoga provides the means to bring out the best in each individual. This requires an understanding of a person's present condition, personal potential, appropriate goals and the means available. As each person is different, these will vary with each individual. Viniyoga is an ancient Sanskrit term that implies differentiation, adaptation, and appropriate application. As a style of practice, Viniyoga refers to an approach to Yoga that adapts the various means and methods of practice to the unique condition, needs and interests of the individual. As a result, each practitioner is given the tools to individualize and actualize the process of self-discovery and personal transformation. The Viniyoga approach evolved out of the teachings transmitted by T. Krishnamacharya and T.K.V. Desikachar of Chennai, India.
