Description: Yoga + Joyful Living magazine delves deep into every aspect of conscious living. Environmental issues, social regeneration, and enlightened leadership—Yoga+ presents time-honored practices and shows us how to apply them to our daily lives.

Yoga is a science—the science of joyful living. Each issue of Yoga+ features articles on authentic meditation and spiritual practice, giving readers direct access to profound yet practical concepts and philosophies.

We take yoga out of the studio, off the meditation cushion, and into the world. Our rich menu of features, departments, and columns focuses on yoga’s power to transform ourselves, our families, our neighborhoods, the earth, and the global community.

We serve our readers by informing them about companies, politicians, celebrities, activists, and cultural creative who are manifesting positive change around the world. Elegant, thought-provoking and often life-changing, every issue is created to inspire the best in all of us. We hope to contribute to uplifting the collective consciousness. Life on purpose, with purpose—Yoga + Joyful Living.

The premier center for yoga and holistic living, the Himalayan Institute is a non-profit, international organization dedicated to serving humanity through educational, spiritual, and humanitarian programs. The Institute and its multi-varied activities and programs exemplify the spiritual heritage of mankind that unites East and West, spirituality and science, and ancient wisdom and modern technology.

Founded in 1971 by Swami Rama of the Himalayas, the Institute draws on its roots in the yoga tradition to offer programs in self-transformation, yoga, meditation, and holistic health at its headquarters in Honesdale, Pennsylvania. Its services include global humanitarian projects as well as the Himalayan Institute Press, a holistic health center (Center for Health and Healing), and an internationally acclaimed magazine, Yoga+ Joyful Living (formerly Yoga International).

Humanitarian projects have been a major focus of the Himalayan Institute for over 30 years. Rural empowerment is at the core of the Institute’s humanitarian mission, aimed at stimulating lasting social regeneration at the grassroots level. The Institute's flagship rural empowerment project is the first Himalayan Institute Community Center in Kumbo, Cameroon (West Africa), launched in the spring of 2007. The Community Center's current projects include Sacred LinkŪ Jewelry vocational training and a community tree plantation. Preparations to launch BioVedic™ Farming initiatives in Cameroon are underway.

In rural northern India, the Institute supports a traditional Sanskrit college and schools that provide education for over 2,000 children.

The Institute’s biodiesel energy farming projects in India and Africa, undertaken in joint effort with private supporters and local and national governments, afford social and environmental regeneration in impoverished communities.

Our programs and services include residential and self-transformation programs, yoga teachers training programs, seminars and workshops, spiritual excursions, and correspondence courses. We offer comprehensive, systematic training and certification for yoga teachers and yoga therapists. Practitioners of all levels deepen their knowledge of hatha yoga, meditation, Ayurveda, spirituality and yoga philosophy in over 100 seminars and workshops every year.
